Stella Celebrates Gay Pride Week in Toronto

Stella may not be gay but she has been known to hump a leg or two which, in her mind anyway, makes her a just a little bit butch. And when she heard it was pride week here in Toronto, she just HAD to join in the festivities. So she donned her rainbow cape (which she got free from HomeSense) and Super Butch personna and headed off to Toronto's world famous Gay Pride Parade.

OMD, Stella had so much fun.
She woofed and cheered at some outrageous floats and costumes:

She met awesome people:

And when the PFLAG (Parents for Lesbians and Gays) marchers came in to view waving their "Proud of Our Gay Children" signs, I swear I saw Stella tear up a little.

Stella was also really excited to see the Canadian Armed Forces, Police Department, Fire Department, NDP, Green Party and Toronto Councillors out showing their support for Toronto's Gay community. It is nice to know that Toronto does not just spout off about diversity and acceptance, we can actually go ahead and practice what we preach. Yay Pride week!

Stella's Saturday Sucked

So Stella did not have so much fun on Saturday because most of the day was spent transporting Nappy Nellie from the Emergency clinic to the place that did her MRI and then back to the emergency clinic. Things were looking up though because when Nappy Nellie woke up after MRI, she was looking really really pissed off until mummy pet her favourite spot under her chin, then Nellie looked happy. This is the first time since she first started seizuring that we have seen her moody personality shine through. Yay Nellie!

With spirits up, Stella decided to spend Sunday celebrating life at the Gay Pride Parade in downtown Toronto. She donned her rainbow cape and Super Butch personna, then headed off to the awesome parade, taking the bf and I with her. We will post some photos of Stella having an awesome time in our next post.

Stella's Missing her Room Mate.

Stella's roomate and bestest friend ever (although the feelings are not necessarily reciprocated), Nappy Nellie (an adorable kitty), is feeling way under the weather. It has prevented me from writing about Stella's latest antics and happenings because we are all so worried about Nellie. She has been in and out of the vets for a couple of weeks but she is currently in the ICU of an emergency hospital which is where she has been for a couple of days. . I do not really want to write much about it on Stella's blog because it might depress her and then she will look at me with googly eyes and a pouty mouth and that, in my weakened state, will likely cause me to give her too many treats.

I might write a post about Nappy Nellie on Nanette's Dog Blog soon. Feel free to check there but in the mean time, don't worry, Stella is still having fun and doing lots of cool stuff. We will post about her latest happenings soon.

How Boston Terriers Beat the Summer Heat (at least how Stella does, anyway)

I was just visiting the awesomest dog blogs and I felt very sorry for Joe Stains and his little brother Tanner becuase they are both boiling in the Arizona heat. But Tanner has the right idea, he is eating ice cubes, which is Stella's FAVOURITE!!!!

Stella wanted me to tell Tannner, Joe, and other doggies that are sweltering in the heat (or just plain old bored), what her other FAVOURITE!!!!! is.

Stella likes to eat frozen carrots! SHE loves carrots so much (and chunks of sweet potatoes, too) so we started to freeze them, which makes them last much longer than ice cubes or unfrozen carrots. Plus they are better for her sensitive Boston terrier tummy than rawhide !

Stella loves her veggies, especially carrots and sweet potatoes. Sometimes we freeze fruit stuff and broth, too!

Maybe you can tell Stella what your favourites are? She is always up tp try something new, especially if it is food related!

Stella's Review of Toronto's First Dog Friendly Cafe

Stella planned to post about her follow up to Top 10 Reasons That Stella's Vacation was the Best Ever BUT she has to put that off to discuss her awesome cool Saturday.

Stella LOVES good weather Saturdays because she gets to go on crazy long walks that usually involves meeting lots of people and dogs. Also the day usually involves a rest at a patio somewhere where she gets a bowl of water and ice cubes while her peeps drink iced coffee, sangria, Bellini’s, or beer (Stella, of course).

This Saturday was even cooler than usual because she was walking along the Toronto waterfront when someone told her that the Café in Paws Way is now open for business and Stella was welcome to come in and see for herself! The Paws Way Café, officially called Williams Coffee Pub, is the first café in Toronto that is open to people and dogs! So of course Stella dragged us inside where she enjoyed a complimentary bowl of ice water and, at that moment in time, the world’s most amazing piece of doggie sushi ever.

The owner of the coffee pub, Del Tupaz, gave Stella the sushi, which will be available for sale along with yummy human food, to celebrate the fact that Stella was the Café’s first ever doggie customer. How excited was Stella when she found that out?! So we all took a load of pictures and we are posting a few here.

Check out my new haunt!

It's okay, I belong here!

It is so obvious that Del is my new best friend.

OMD, this is SOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!

Please Sir, Can I have some more?

BTW, Paws Way is a humongous and mysterious new building that is having its grand opening this coming weekend. Stella thinks that it is going to be a really cool play place for dogs and their people. I think it is sponsored by Purina, who also sponsored Woofstock last weekend.

I did find one press release about it and here it is:

Stella's New Best Friend from Woofstock

Stella met so many cool people and animals at Woofstock 2009 in Toronto that it was difficult to choose a new best friend for the week.

After much consideration her new best friend this week was this guy:

He let Stella sit in his shady booth and he scratched her neck until I told her it was time to go, which was awesome. It was so hot and sticky out, she really needed that break!

Stella's Woofstock 2008 photos

As promised, Stella would like me to post some photos and tell some stories from her awesome time at Woofstock 2008 in Toronto last weekend.

To start the weekend off, Stella got a tattoo that matches mine. Unlike mine, her's is not permanent. How cool do we look?

After the tattoo session, Stella and I were so excited to see some exotic animals like this kinkajou:
And this hairless kitty cat:

We also saw about a fofillian awesome cool doggies:

We even saw a puppy that looked just like a teddy bear:

Stella, the spoiled puppy, got SO MUCH free stuff that it is crazy. We took the following photo of her loot and then put it all away only to turn around and find that we had a WHOLE other bag!!! Here is about 2/3's of her free stuff:

And that is just some of the cool stuff my Stella Bella experienced last weekend! Stella is already dreaming about attending Toronto's Woofstock 2009. Hopefully we will find some more interesting things to occupy her attention and time until then.

Stella at WoofStock

Stella is about recovered from her weekend adventures at Woofstock so she will be able to pick which photos she wants me to post soon. In the mean time, I found this AWESOME photo online taken at Woofstock (of Stella Bella of course).

The photographer is Miles and he has more photos from Woofstock (of doggies almost as cute as Stella) posted on the Torontoist. I LOVE the water shots.

2008 Summer PAW-LIMPICS

Stella is a camera hog! She will look at the camera, sit pretty, stand up and walk back and forth without any promise of treats at all. Well, imagine her delight when she came across the Wire Wise blog today with their announcement about the 2008 SUMMER PAW-LIMPICS!!! She has made a few suggestions as to event categories but I am sure we can come up with a photo either way. Cool Beans!

Top 10 Reasons Stella's Vacation Was the Best Ever (reasons 1 to 5)

Stella insisted I post more photos of her awesome roadtrip/vacation. I explained to her that I was not gtoing to willy-nilly go posting all of her pics so she organized them into a top 10 list. That is a lot of pics to upload so we will start with one thru five today.

Stella's Top 10 Reasons her Roadtrip Was the Best Ever:

1. She got to spend so much time off leash in really fun places.

2. So many people, at least eleventy billion, played fetch with her:

3. She found a doggy food buffet at her granny's house:

4. She got to ride on a ferry:

5. Stella got to walk on Canada's longest suspension bridge (which was only scary when the kid jumped up and down on it and made it wiggle):

Stella will reveal the second half of her list next week, after Woofstock. If she can narrow it down to just five more, that is!

Stella's Ice Cream Personality

Here is Stella's Ice Cream Personality:

Your Ice Cream Personality:

You are a bit of a bragger. Your personality is larger than life - and you really enjoy showing off.

You are the type of person who likes to throw caution to the wind. You only live once, so you're going to live as large as possible. You are definitely a wild one!

You are a very open minded, liberal, and flexible person. You love many things. You tend to have tastes that range from down home to cosmopolitan.

You are a natural multitasker. You feel alive when you're doing more than one thing at a time.

You are a serious and contemplative person. You definitely do your own thing in life.

Thanks to Buster the Wired Fox Terrier for providing the link to this fun quiz. Apparently Stella and Buster have the same cool personality.

WoofStock Coming To Toronto This Weekend

Guess Where Stella Bella will be this weekend?
